According to the online media outlet Todofichajes, the Spanish La Liga club Barcelona intends to part ways with their Polish forward Robert Lewandowski in the summer of 2024.
On May 12 Sport.es reported that there is an option of terminating the contract with the 35-year-old forward, alongside the option of extension with a decrease in salary. According to the source, the Blaugrana management wants to lighten the wage bill and send Lewandowski to the English Premier League (EPL) or the Saudi Pro League, where there is a substantial interest in him.
In 33 matches of the 2023/2024 Spanish championship season, the forward scored 17 goals and made eight assists. Lewandowski also has three goals and one assist in seven Champions League games. The forward's current contract with Barcelona runs until the end of June 2026. According to Transfermarkt data, his market value is 15 million euros.
On May 14, Diario Sport reported that Lewandowski may receive the Ballon d’Or for 2020, when the award ceremony was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
