According to ESPN, Real Madrid's head coach Carlo Ancelotti is set to meet with club president Florentino Perez in the coming days to discuss his departure from the Spanish club.
The report indicates that Ancelotti and Perez are expected to come to an agreement about ending their partnership after Real's final La Liga match against Real Sociedad, which is scheduled for May 25 at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid.
It is noted that Real Madrid will play their first match in the Club World Cup on June 18. The team's head coach duties could temporarily be taken over by either football director Santiago Solari, Castilla coach Raúl González, or youth team coach Álvaro Arbeloa. All three have previously played for the Madrid club.
Carlo Ancelotti has been in charge of Real Madrid since 2021, having previously managed the club from 2013 to 2015. During his two terms, he has won three UEFA Champions League titles, two La Liga championships, the Copa del Rey, and two UEFA Super Cups.
In mid-April, Real Madrid were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League, losing 1-5 on aggregate to Arsenal in the quarter-finals.
In the La Liga standings, Real Madrid hold the second position with 69 points, trailing leaders Barcelona by four points.
Ancelotti's current contract with Real Madrid runs until the summer of 2026.
Earlier, Spanish newspaper Marca reported that the management of Real Madrid seeks to appoint Jürgen Klopp as the head coach instead of Carlo Ancelotti.
Additionally, it has been revealed that the Italian coach will leave the Madrid club at the end of the season to take over as the coach of the Brazilian national team.
