The Athletic has revealed two more candidates for the position of head coach of English Premier League club Liverpool, who could replace German specialist Jurgen Klopp.
According to the source, the club may be led by 47-year-old Simone Inzaghi, who is currently in charge of Italian Inter, and 41-year-old Thiago Motta, who holds the same position in Bologna. It is noted that the Nerazzurri do not intend to let Inzaghi leave the club. Moreover, the fact that the Italian coach does not speak English may serve as another obstacle to the appointment.
Recall that 56-year-old Klopp, managing the Reds since October 2015, January 26, announced that he will leave the club at the end of the season-2023/2024 and put his coaching career on hold. After 29 played rounds of the current EPL season, Liverpool has 67 points, putting the team in first place in the standings.
On March 26, Daily Mail reported that the management of Liverpool are considering Xabi Alonso from Bayer, Ruben Amorim (Sporting Lisbon) and Roberto De Zerby (Brighton & Hove Albion) to replace Klopp. Earlier, on March 10, Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah told Sky Sports that he was unpleasantly surprised by Klopp's decision to leave after the end of the season.
