Ten Hag Attributes Sancho's Absence from Premier League Match To Ear Infection

After Manchester United's victory over Fulham (1-0) in the opening match of the Premier League, head coach Erik ten Hag provided an explanation for winger Jadon Sancho's exclusion from the team's squad.

Ten Hag noted that Sancho suffered from an ear infection earlier this week and was not fully prepared for the game.

The coach was quoted by the Mirror:

There will be a long season and it will be survival of the fittest, but I can only select 20 players for the squad. Jadon had an ear infection this week. He wasn't 100 percent fit. He could have played, but I made choices and preferred other players on the bench. However, that can change and will change throughout the season.

It's worth mentioning that last season there was a conflict between Sancho and ten Hag, which led to the 24-year-old being sent away from the first team and later loaned to Borussia Dortmund.

During his time with the German club, he played 21 matches, scored three goals, and provided three assists.
