Despite suffering back-to-back losses against DR Congo and receiving a blow in their quest to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Tanzania’s head coach Hemed Suleiman remains confident they can bounce back and seal a ticket in the last two matches next month.
Tanzania suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to the Congolese, conceding two extra time goals from Meschak Elia to see their hopes suffer a major hit.
But, speaking to Telecomasia.net, coach Hemed says they still have faith they can qualify:
We played really well, created chances, but we couldn’t score. We lost concentration at a very crucial point of the game and that is why we lost. I believe we still have a chance. We lost the two games, but it is not the end of the journey. We are going back to re-strategize and address areas which we feel need improvement. I believe we will qualify for the Cup of Nations.
Tanzania will face Ethiopia and Guinea in the last two rounds of matches in November. A win against Ethiopia will leave them with a final to play against the Guineans.
The coach says his side will need to work more on their finishing as they create chances, but scoring has become a problem.
