The 2026 tournament will mark the first time the World Cup is jointly hosted by three countries: the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Messi led Argentina to victory at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Since joining Inter Miami in 2023, Messi has scored 42 goals and provided 21 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.
The Argentine superstar is under contract with Inter Miami until the end of December 2025. According to Transfermarkt, the 37-year-old forward’s market value is estimated at €20 million.
Previously, Argentina national team head coach Lionel Scaloni stated that it was too early to discuss Messi’s potential participation in the 2026 World Cup. Messi himself has also commented on his chances of playing in the tournament.
