Early on, Tanzania attempted a few shots on goal, but Ethiopian goalkeeper Seid Habtamu Aregawi managed to protect the net. Conversely, Ethiopia's flanks occasionally opened up, yet they faced strong defensive resistance from Tanzania.
After halftime, Tanzania made tactical changes, which allowed them to control possession. However, they couldn't break through Ethiopia's defense, resulting in a draw.
Meanwhile, in Tripoli, Libya and Rwanda also ended their Group D match at 1-1. Libya’s Sobhi Al-Dawi scored first, but Rwanda equalized with Innocent Ntshwe early in the second half. Both teams left the field with a point each.
