According to Sport-Express, Sérgio Conceição was considered as a possible replacement for Domenico Tedesco as head coach of the Belgium national team in December.
Representatives from the Belgian Football Federation held preliminary talks with the 50-year-old Portuguese coach, but he declined to take charge of the national team. Conceição also turned down an offer from English club Southampton and took over as head coach of Italian club AC Milan, with whom he recently won the Italian Supercup.
Domenico Tedesco remains at risk of being dismissed from the Belgium national team. Tedesco took over the team in February 2023.
During his time with the team, he managed 24 matches, winning 12, drawing six, and losing six. At the recent Euro 2024, Belgium was eliminated in the Round of 16, losing to France 1-0.
