Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal may face a suspension for insulting a referee during the final of the Copa del Rey against Barcelona (2:3), despite not participating in the match.
According to Spanish outlet Sport.es, the Disciplinary Code of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) states that insults or disrespect towards referees, even off the field, can result in a ban for several matches.
Carvajal has been with the Madrid club since July 2013, playing a total of 427 matches, scoring 14 goals, and providing 65 assists.
Previously, another Real Madrid defender, Antonio Rüdiger, was reported to potentially face a 12-match suspension for aggressive behavior towards a referee during the Copa del Rey final.
