According to Telecomasia.net, Spartak forward Quincy Promes became a resident of the UAE in December 2023 following the advice of his inner circle.
The footballer was told that this would help him avoid potential extradition to the Netherlands, where Promes was sentenced to 7.5 years.
Previously, reports from Sport Express stated that Promes obtained a UAE residency visa at the end of 2023, simplifying his border crossings into the Arab state.
On March 13, Promes was re-arrested in the UAE. At the request of Dutch authorities, he is expected to be extradited back to his home country.
