The appeal committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has confirmed the suspension of Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior, who was sent off for pushing Valencia goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski during a match in the 19th round of La Liga (2:1).
As a result, the RFEF's appeal committee imposed a two-match suspension on the Brazilian forward and fined him 600 euros, while Real Madrid were fined 700 euros.
Real Madrid filed an appeal, claiming the VAR system was biased, as the provocation by goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski was not shown. However, the RFEF's appeal committee rejected this claim. The club now has 15 days to appeal to the Sports Administrative Court of Spain.
Vinicius has played in 24 matches for Real Madrid across all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing ten assists. His market value is estimated at 200 million euros by Transfermarkt.
It was previously reported that Vinicius Junior risks facing a suspension ranging from four to 12 matches for the incident involving goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski during the La Liga match against Valencia.
In addition, Rayo Vallecano responded to the Brazilian player’s provocative gesture directed at fans following the match in the Spanish championship.
