Son of Liberian President Weah becomes first to score Welsh since Pele at World Cup

The U.S. national team forward Timothy Weah scored the only goal of his team against Wales (1-1) in the first round of the 2022 World Cup group stage match in Qatar.

Opta Sports reports that Weah became the first player since Pele to score for Wales at the World Cup. The Welsh team hasn't participated in the World Cup since 1958, and the last player to hit its net was the legendary Brazilian.

The U.S. national team forward is the son of former footballer, 1995 Ballon d'Or winner and Liberian President George Weah.
