T-shirts of Argentina striker Lionel Messi from the national team were sold at auction, reports Daily Mail.
Sotheby auction in New York offered six jerseys in which the Argentine forward played at the World Cup 2022 in Qatar. The collection included six jerseys: from two games of the group stage, one each from round of 16, 1/4 finals, semifinals and the first half of the final.
The collection was sold for $7.8 million dollars. It is noted that the bidders set this price a few minutes before the end of the deadline. Before that, the organizers of the auction received three bids for $6.5 million.
Part of the revenue from the sale of the jerseys 2022 will go to charity. Recall that Messi is the world champion in 2022 and eight-time winner of the Ballon d'Or.
