Jamaican coach Andrew Price, who mentored Spartak forward Shamar Nicholson at the start of his career, expressed his emotions following Nicholson's two-goal performance in the 11th round of the Russian Premier League match against Rostov.
“Nicholson is a player who can truly shine if he gets enough playing time. After Stankovic arrived, Shamar began to receive more minutes on the field. This has helped him improve his form after returning from his loan. It was great to see him score a brace against Rostov and become the match's best player. His physical condition is getting better with each game,” Price told Telecomasia.net.
Shamar has requested not to be included in Jamaica's national team for the upcoming international window. This decision came after discussions with Stankovic and Jamaica’s head coach, Steve McClaren. If he stays at Spartak right now, it will benefit both his club and the national team, as Shamar continues to improve his fitness
This season, Nicholson has played six matches for Spartak, scoring three goals and providing two assists. He has appeared in 54 games for the Jamaican national team, netting 19 goals.
