Cristiano Ronaldo, forward for Al Nassr and the Portugal national team, has reacted to former Juventus and Poland goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny's transfer to Spanish club Barcelona.
The players met in the tunnel after the UEFA Nations League match between Portugal and Poland (1:3). Szczęsny's children took photos with Ronaldo, and the ex-Juventus teammates discussed the goalkeeper's move to the Catalan club.
Ronaldo was quoted by The Sun as saying:
You had to retire (in order) to go to a big club.
On October 2, Barcelona officially announced the signing of the 34-year-old goalkeeper, who had previously announced his retirement on August 27. Szczęsny's contract with the Catalan side is valid until the end of June 2025. The player’s market value is estimated at six million euros, according to Transfermarkt.
Earlier, Szczęsny revealed which Barcelona players played a crucial role in his transfer to the club.
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, the Polish goalkeeper is preparing to debut for the Blaugrana in the tenth round of La Liga against Sevilla, set to take place on October 20 at 22:00 GMT+3.
