Argentinian midfielder Leandro Paredes from Roma commented on the team's performance in the Europa League semi-final match against Bayer.
On May 9, Roma drew with Bayer (2-2) and lost to the German team with an overall score of 2-4. Paredes scored a brace.
The UEFA website quotes Paredes as saying, with reference to SKY Sport Italy:
It hurts. We had the game in our hands and unfortunately, with Mancini's own goal, we were forced to leave space behind. Against strong players, you can't do that. We wanted to give the fans the final and give them this joy, but we go home empty-handed.
In the final match of the Europa League 2024 on May 22, Bayer will face Atalanta. According to bookmakers' odds, the Leverkusen club is the favorite in the match with the Italian team.
