Spanish national and Manchester City midfielder, Rodri, has commented on a video where he can be heard shouting "Goodbye, Vinicius, goodbye" during the celebration of the Ballon d’Or win.
Rodri for COPE
People need to understand that it’s healthy sportsmanship and we were celebrating in private. At no point did I disrespect anyone. I have tremendous respect for Vinicius, Real Madrid, and every player nominated for the award.
Last season, Rodri played 50 matches for Manchester City, scoring nine goals and providing assists. He won the English Premier League and the Club World Championship. The midfielder also became the champion of Europe-2024 with the Spanish national team.
Vinicius finished second in the Ballon d’Or voting. He won last season's La Liga and the Champions League, where he scored a goal in the final.
