According to Relevo, Liverpool are interested in signing 26-year-old central defender Ronald Araujo from Barcelona, viewing him as a potential replacement for 33-year-old Virgil van Dijk, whose contract expires this summer.
In January, Araujo signed a new contract with the Catalan club that includes a release fee of €65-75 million. Barcelona, in their turn, are interested in Liverpool winger Luis Diaz, who could be part of the deal for Araujo.
Araujo has been with the Blaugrana since October 2020. He has made a total of 165 appearances for the club, scoring ten goals and providing seven assists. His current contract with the Catalan side runs until the summer of 2031. The transfer market value of the Uruguayan is estimated to be €50 million by Transfermarkt.
It was previously reported that the Reds plan to extend the contract of club forward Mohamed Salah.
