Referee José Luis Munuera Montero, who previously sent Real Madrid player Jude Bellingham off during a La Liga match, announced on social media his intention to take legal action against those spreading false information about him and his business.
Earlier, AS reported that the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) initiated an investigation into Munuera Montero, which jeopardizes his ability to officiate UEFA matches until the review is completed.
According to AS, Munuera Montero is the founder of a consulting firm that may have interacted with various football clubs and leagues across Europe. If a conflict of interest is found, he could face a lengthy suspension from football activities.
Munuera Montero officiated the match between Osasuna and Real Madrid, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham received a straight red card in the 39th minute for clashing with the referee and may face a lengthy suspension. Real Madrid disagree with this decision and plan to appeal if Bellingham is punished.
It was previously reported that Bellingham might be suspended for 12 matches in La Liga.
