German referee Felix Brych may miss the European football championship 2024 due to injury in the 12th Bundesliga matchday between Eintracht and Stuttgart (1:2).
The referee tripped in the 32nd minute of the game and suffered a torn cruciate ligament in his knee. The recovery period is currently unknown. Media believe that Brych will not recover in time for Euro 2024, which will be held in Germany from June 14 to July 14 next year.
Brych has worked for the International Football Federation (FIFA) since 2007. He acted as a referee at World Cup matches in Brazil in 2014 and Russia in 2018, as well as refereeing the 2016/17 Champions League final. The match between Eintracht and Stuttgart was the 48-year-old referee's 344th match in the German league.
