The team’s forward Rodrygo scored early in the 13th minute to put los Blancos ahead. Notably, the match marked the debut of French forward Kylian Mbappe, who recently transferred from Paris Saint-Germain.
According to data from the portal MisterChip, Real Madrid has started the La Liga season with a draw 20 times, but has only gone on to win the championship in five of those seasons: 1931/1932, 1985/1986, 1988/1989, 1996/1997, and 2006/2007.
In the preceding season of 2023/2024, Real Madrid, managed by Carlo Ancelotti, secured the title decisively, finishing ten points ahead of second-place Barcelona with a total of 95 points over 38 matches.
