Thibaut Courtois, the Real Madrid goalkeeper and former Belgian national team player, has likened the playing style of French forward Kylian Mbappe to a ketchup bottle while discussing his performance.
Madrid Universal quotes Courtois as saying:
Kylian Mbappe is a player with great quality. He is like a ketchup bottle that has sauce inside – it seems like it doesn’t come out, but suddenly it all comes out. And I think that’s what’s going to happen to him.
Since July 2024, the 25-year-old Mbappe has been part of the Madrid club after transferring from Paris Saint-Germain. He has signed a contract valid until June 2029. In the 2024/2025 season, he has played 13 matches in La Liga, scoring eight goals and providing one assist, along with five appearances in the Champions League, where he scored one goal and made one assist. Transfermarkt estimates the striker at 180 million euros.
On November 28, French journalist Daniel Riolo stated on RMC Sport that Mbappe is currently in such poor form that he can't be considered a footballer. However, after the December 2 match against Getafe, in which Real won 2-0, head coach Carlo Ancelotti praised Mbappe's active play and highlighted his goal.
