Bayer Leverkusen is open to discussing the appointment of Raul, the head coach of Real Madrid's Castilla team, should Xabi Alonso leave the club, according to Madrid Xtra, citing Sport Bild.
The Leverkusen team is preparing for the possible departure of the 42-year-old Alonso in the summer of 2025, and Raul is among the candidates being considered for the position.
It was previously reported that Real Madrid might attempt to sign Alonso next summer.
Raul retired from playing in 2015 and has since managed various youth teams at Real Madrid. He has been in charge of Castilla since July 2019.
Currently, Bayer Leverkusen sits in fifth place in the Bundesliga, having accumulated six points. Under Alonso's leadership last season, the club won both the Bundesliga and the German Cup for the first time in its history.
Alonso has overseen 96 matches as Bayer's head coach, resulting in 64 wins, 20 draws, and 12 defeats.
