Claudio Ranieri, the 73-year-old experienced coach, has announced that he has held talks with AS Roma owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin, during which he agreed to take the helm of the Italian club for the third time in his career.
In May 2024, Ranieri left another Italian club, Cagliari, stating that it would be the last team to which he would serve as coach.
Ranieri stated in an interview with ANSA:
Do you need someone to deal with a tough problem? That’s why they called me. Ready! Here comes the cavalry!
The contract between AS Roma and Claudio Ranieri is expected to run until the end of the 2024/25 season. Previously, he managed the Giallorossi from 2009 to 2011 and again in 2019.
Currently, AS Roma sit in 12th place in Serie A, having secured 13 points from 12 matches in the 2024/25 season.
On November 10, AS Roma officially announced the departure of Croatian coach Ivan Juric from his position as head coach.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Italian club is also showing interest in Dutch coach Erik ten Hag, who recently left Manchester United in England.
