Defender of Spanish football club Sevilla Sergio Ramos has avoided sanctions for violating anti-doping regulations in 2018, Relevo reports.
According to the source, the 37-year-old player did not face penalties because the doping control was conducted by one officer, instead of two, as required by the regulations. The second person who attended the doping control did not have the proper accreditation.
Ramos came under investigation after he refused to submit to a doping test after Sevilla's match against Malaga in the Spanish league in April 2018. Refusal to submit to a test can be considered an anti-doping violation.
In September 2023, Ramos returned to Sevilla. In the current season, he played 15 matches, scored four goals and made one goal assist.
