Former Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitić, now playing for Croatian club Hajduk, made a light-hearted jab at his former teammate Lionel Messi, claiming there's a trophy Messi will never win.
Rakitić told Barca Universal:
I was speaking to Messi and I said: "you've won it all, you've scored all these goals, but I have won a trophy you'll never have... You will never win the Europa League."
Messi played for Barcelona from 2005 to 2021, participating in 778 matches across all competitions, scoring 672 goals and providing 303 assists. Currently, the 37-year-old Argentine represents American club Inter Miami.
Notably, Messi is recognized as the most decorated footballer in history, having won 45 trophies with both club and country. Furthermore, he ranks third on ESPN's list of the best athletes of the 21st century.
