Qatar has lost its chances of qualifying for the playoffs of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which runs from November 20 to December 18, after the second round of the group stage.
Qatar lost to Senegal (1:3) in the second round of the group stage on November 25, its second consecutive defeat. Also on November 25, Ecuador drew with the Netherlands 1-1.
Before the final round, the Netherlands lead Group A with four points. The Ecuadorian team also has four points. Third place goes to Senegal with three points, and they still have a chance of making the playoffs. Qatar is in last place without points and mathematically can't get four points in the last round.
