Forward and captain of the Ecuadorian national team Enner Valencia was injured in the second round group stage match of the World Cup against the Netherlands (1-1).
Valencia scored first, tying the score for his national team, but in the end of the meeting he was injured and left the field on a stretcher. Later, the player himself said that a medical examination revealed he had sprained knee ligaments.
To recall, the 33-year-old from Ecuador is leading the scoring race at the Qatar Mundial with three goals.
In the final match of Group A, Ecuador will compete for a direct ticket to the playoffs against Senegal. A draw will be enough for the Latin Americans. The meeting will take place on November 29, beginning at 18:00 GMT+3.
