French football club Paris Saint-Germain has informed Matvei Safonov and Gianluigi Donnarumma that there won't be a clear distinction between first-choice and backup goalkeepers.
According to L’Equipe, PSG won't establish specific roles for each goalkeeper – starter, substitute, and reserve – at the beginning of the new season. It's noted that Matvey took this news well, but Donnarumma did not.
Gianluigi has been playing for PSG since 2021. The player's contract with the club is signed until 2026. In the 2023/2024 season, the goalkeeper played 25 matches in Ligue 1.
