Premier League Responds to Enzo Fernandez's Racist Chant Incident

The English Premier League has issued a statement regarding the controversy involving Chelsea and Argentina player Enzo Fernández, who was heard chanting racist insults directed at French national team players.

English Premier League statement
The Premier League and our clubs are committed to tackling all forms of discrimination. We are in contact with Chelsea Football Club and will continue to support clubs, players, and staff in taking action against discriminatory abuse.

The incident occurred on the night of July 14-15 in Miami, USA, during the final match of the 2024 Copa America, where Argentina defeated Colombia 1-0 to claim the trophy. Celebrating this victory, midfielder Enzo Fernández went live on social media, during which he sang alongside his teammates an offensive chant aimed at the French national team players.

Argentina's youth team coach Javier Mascherano defended Fernández, stating that the midfielder's offensive remarks were taken out of context.
