Polish Warta Poznan footballer Marcin Oleksy, who has had his leg amputated, has won the Puskás Award for the best goal scored in 2022 according to FIFA.
Oleksy sent the ball with a scissor kick into the Stal Rzeszów goal. Other candidates to win the award included forwards Dimitri Payet (Marseille) and Richarlison (Tottenham, Brazil).
There were initially 11 players on the list: Mario Balotelli, Amandine Henry, Theo Hernandez, Alou Kuol, Kylian Mbappe, Francisco Gonzalez Metilli, Oleksy, Salma Paralluelo, Payet, Richarlison and Alessia Russo.
The awards ceremony takes place on Monday, February 27 in Paris, France.
