Pochettino Confident Messi Will Participate in 2026 World Cup

Mauricio Pochettino, the head coach of the U.S. national team, believes that 37-year-old forward Lionel Messi of Argentina and Inter Miami will take part in the upcoming 2026 World Cup.

Pochettino stated to La Nacion:

I have no doubt that Messi will make it to the World Cup. If he wants to play, he will play. He takes care of himself, he’s very professional, it will just be a personal decision. It would be incredible to have him in the World Cup, I hope he decides to play, it would be spectacular for this country and for Argentina.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be a historic event as it will be held in three countries: the USA, Canada, and Mexico. It is important to note that Lionel Messi currently plays for Major League Soccer's Inter Miami.

Messi also won the FIFA World Cup with Argentina in 2022, a tournament that took place in Qatar.

Previously, Messi addressed questions about his potential participation in the 2026 World Cup.
