Former Spain and Barcelona player Gerard Pique has announced his return to professional football. The 36-year-old will take up coaching.
Pique wrote on social networks:
Gerard Pique
After thinking carefully I have decided to return to football. This time it won’t be as a player. It will be as a coach. I’ll share more details at the end of the week.
Pique finished his career as a player in November 2022. In 18 years at club level, he became Spanish champion eight times and won the Champions League three times, and also won the World Cup (2010) and European Championship (2012) as a member of the national team.
Earlier, Pique's grandfather said that his grandson ended his career for non-football reasons. In 2020, the Spanish footballer criticized the management of Barcelona for bullying the players.
