Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has spoken out regarding the squad depth of the Citizens.
Guardiola is quoted by journalist Fabrizio Romano on social media:
We do not have the depth of squad, we have 19, 20, 21 players. There's a lot of games and everyone has to fight.
Guardiola took charge of Manchester City in 2016, and his current contract with the English club runs until the end of the 2024/2025 season.
Last season, the Citizens became champions of the Premier League, collecting 91 points over 38 matches. Additionally, Manchester City won the title three consecutive times before this (2020/2021, 2021/2022, 2022/2023).
The club has officially announced the return of 33-year-old German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.
Guardiola has also urged his players to accept that Manchester City is inherently considered a favorite in the Premier League and to work hard in every match to accumulate points, despite the opinions of skeptics.
