Former Netherlands striker Patrick Kluivert will become the head coach of the Indonesia national team. This was reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano on social media.
Kluivert is set to sign a two-year contract with an option to extend for another two years. The official presentation is scheduled for January 12, with the main goal being to qualify the team for the World Cup.
The 48-year-old Kluivert was a two-time champion of the Netherlands and won the Champions League with Ajax, as well as being a champion in Spain with Barcelona. He holds the record for the most goals scored by a player for the Netherlands in European Championships and has won bronze medals in two European tournaments.
As a coach, Kluivert has worked in Dutch clubs AZ Alkmaar, NEC, Ajax, and Twente, led the Curaçao national team, managed Turkish club Adana Demirspor, and served as an assistant coach for the Cameroonian national team. His management roles include positions as sporting director at PSG and in the Barcelona academy.
Previously, it was reported that former Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane plans to take over the French national team, and media outlets have speculated about his potential move to PSG.
