Jesica Farias, the wife of Bayer midfielder and 2022 World Cup champion in the Argentina national team Ezequiel Palacios, sold his medal and shirt to settle the debt on their house in the Argentine city of Tigre, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.
According to the source, the player's wife did this because Palacios refused to pay off the existing debt. It is noted that the world champion's wife has already filed for divorce and intends to claim part of the 25-year-old midfielder’s assets.
The source does not disclose the sum for which the player's medal and shirt were sold.
Recall that Palacios played in three matches at the World Cup in Qatar, totaling 47 minutes on the field. In these games, the midfielder did not register any goal or assist.
This season, Palacios has scored five goals and provided two assists in 22 games for Bayer Leverkusen in all competitions. The Transfermarkt website evaluates the player's market value at 40 million euros, and his contract with the German club runs until June 2028.
Earlier, AS reported that the Argentine national team could be disqualified from all international tournaments due to the measures proposed by the current president of the country, Javier Milei.
Benjamin Lyon, the head of the company Indesign Gold, stated that Lionel Messi purchased 35 gold iPhones for the footballers and coaching staff of the Argentine national team after the team's victory at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
