Soweto giants Orlando Pirates Football Club will face off against bitter rivals Kaizer Chiefs for a place in the Nedbank Cup final this weekend at the majestic FNB Stadium. The two giants will meet for the third time this season, with Chiefs winning both encounters 1-0. However, Pirates’ skipper, Innocent Maela told Telecomasia.net ahead of the much-anticipated clash;
Innocent Maela
Well, as players you know, we don’t go into matches thinking about the past results. I think for us, it is important that we focus on the game at hand, that we focus on the plans that the coaches will present to us (as players).
Telecomasia.net pushed the skipper for a comment if the players have had sleepless nights preparing for Chiefs as they have lost the last two derbies, he said;
Innocent Maela
No, not at all, we don't have those (sleepless nights)...laughs. We need to make sure that we compete to the best of our abilities and that we don’t spend our time chasing on what happened in the past you know. We know that we have an opportunity come Saturday and we have to be present, and compete the best way that we can.
The teams will face off on Saturday, 6th of May 2023, at the 2010 FIFA World Cup Final stadium, the FNB, with well over 40 000 tickets sold thus far.
