French striker Olivier Giroud has confirmed that he will end his career with the French national team after Euro 2024.
L'Equipe quotes Giroud as saying:
Obviously I'm going to miss it a lot, but I need to cede my place for the young players.
The 37-year-old forward is the top scorer in the history of the French national team. He scored 56 goals in 128 matches. Together with the national team Giroud won the 2018 World Cup in Russia and became a silver medalist at his home Euro 2016.
The 2024 European Football Championship will be held in Germany from June 14 to July 14.
