Tusker FC head coach Charles Okere says the transfer speculation surrounding top scorer Ryan Wesley Ogam has not distracted them, and they have kept their eyes on the prize as they chase for the FKF Premier League title.
The last week has been unsettling for Tusker, with Algerian side USM Alger pushing to sign Ogam in the mid-season transfer window. The Algerian outfit reportedly wants to activate the buyout clause in the striker’s contract and the player is keen on the move.
Despite this coming right in the middle of a title-chasing season, Okere has told Telecomasia.net that his side will remain focused.
This is football and sometimes that happens during the transfer window. Of course, Ogam is an important player for us and we want to have our best players for the rest of the season. But some things you cannot prevent. For us, we have kept our focus because the team is always bigger than an individual. Our focus is on winning our matches and racing towards our target.
Ogam has been in sensational form for Tusker this season, scoring 15 goals in 14 matches. He has only missed four games for Tusker, three through injury and one due to national team duty.
The 20-year old forward joined Tusker at the start of the season from then second tier side Rainbow FC.
