32-year-old winger Neymar, playing for Al-Hilal and the Brazil national team, will miss at least two weeks due to an injury sustained during a match against Iranian side Esteghlal in the Asian Champions League Elite. This was confirmed by the head coach of the Saudi team, Jorge Jesus.
I knew he would have problems like he did today, the knee is healed but then there is muscular problems. He plays in a position that makes him vulnerable to tackles. I believe his injury is muscular & not the knee.
Neymar was substituted in the 86th minute of the game because of a hamstring injury. The match ended with Al-Hilal defeating Esteghlal 3-0.
It is worth noting that Neymar had previously missed over a year due to a serious injury. After suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament during a World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay (0-2), the player had to undergo an extensive rehabilitation process.
Since joining Al-Hilal, Neymar has played just seven matches over the past year and a half, scoring one goal and providing three assists. The contract of the 32-year-old forward with the Saudi team is valid until the end of June 2025, and his market value, according to Transfermarkt, is estimated at 30 million euros.
Earlier, Neymar topped the list of the most overrated football players currently, as reported by GiveMeSport.
According to the publication Fichajes, the 32-year-old winger is set to return to Brazilian club Santos as a free agent in the summer of 2025.
