Paris Saint-Germain striker Neymar faces a large fine for environmental violations in Brazil, informs L'Equipe website.
According to them, construction work of one of the player's residences in Rio de Janeiro had certain "environmental violations".
These include: diversion of a watercourse, unauthorized extraction of water from a river to supply an artificial lake, relocation of soil, stones and rocks and taking sand from beaches without permission.
According to the City Hall, considering the environmental damage, the fine will amount to about R$5 million (€950,000).
Neymar moved to PSG in the summer of 2017 from Barcelona for €222 million. Last season he played 29 matches for the Parisians, scored 18 goals and made 17 assists.
The 31-year-old forward's contract runs until the summer of 2025. The Transfermarkt portal estimates the market value of Neymar at €70 million.
