
The press service of Eredivisie club Feyenoord announced the appointment of former striker and Netherlands national team player Robin van Persie as the head coach of "the Pride of the South."
The announcement highlighted that 41-year-old van Persie will be joined by coach René Hake, who was previously an assistant to Erik ten Hag at Manchester United. Van Persie's contract with the Rotterdam club runs until the end of June 2027. It is also important to mention that the former forward has prior experience working with Feyenoord's youth and academy teams, as well as with Heerenveen.
As of now, after 23 games played in the 2024/2025 season, Feyenoord sit in third place in the Eredivisie table with 43 points. Additionally, for the first time in 50 years, since the 1974/1975 season, Feyenoord have reached the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League, where they will face Inter Milan on March 5 and 11.
