Netherlands Defender Matthijs de Ligt Faces Possible Prison Time for Fleeing Accident Scene

Matthijs de Ligt, central defender for Bayern Munich and the Netherlands national team, could face prison time for leaving the scene of a car accident, according to the German publication Bild.

The 24-year-old player has been with Bayern since 2022, and during his time with the club, he has played in 73 matches, scoring five goals and winning the Bundesliga and the German Supercup.

Sources report that while parking near the Bayern Munich office, de Ligt damaged another vehicle. Following this incident, law enforcement was called, and de Ligt’s car was towed. If it is confirmed that he deliberately left the scene of the accident, he could face fines or up to three years in prison.

Previous reports also indicated that Manchester United is close to signing the Dutch defender from Bayern.
