English club Manchester United forward Antony has been excluded from the Brazilian national team's bid for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying games due to allegations of domestic violence.
On June 6, Globo reported that the former companion of the 23-year-old football player, DJ Gabriela Cavallin reported threats and physical harm from Antony. The girl has already filed a report, providing photos of her abrasions and threats in text messages. The São Paulo city police have already launched an investigation into the incident.
"As a result of the facts that have come to light, and which need to be investigated, and in order to safeguard the supposed victim, the player, and the Brazilian national team the CBF have withdrawn [him] from the squad," the The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) said in a statement.
Thus, striker of English Arsenal Gabriel Jesus will take Antony's place in the lineup of the Seleção. In September, the national team will play two matches against Bolivia (September 9) and Peru (September 13).
In the season of the English Premier League (EPL)-2023/2024, Anthony played in four matches, where he did not make any productive actions.
