Jose Mourinho, the head coach of Turkish football club Fenerbahce, expressed his view that the Turkish media do not sufficiently appreciate his efforts and are highly critical of him.
He emphasized the need to avoid a situation similar to that of Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who was fired from Besiktas. Mourinho believes that it is impossible to drastically change a team in just a few months. He also mentioned that van Bronckhorst did a good job during his time at Besiktas.
ESPN quotes Mourinho as saying:
They [local media] still kill me. Give me a little bit of credit. Clubs and players to evolve, they need stability also in their coaches, in their coaches' philosophy. So give me a bit of a break, let me work in peace but if it's not in peace, there is no problem, I still enjoy it.
Currently, Fenerbahce sits in second place in the Turkish league with 32 points.
On November 30, Besiktas announced the dismissal of van Bronckhorst, who had taken over the club in June of this year.
