Queens Park Rangers midfielder and Morocco national team player Ilias Chair has been sentenced to prison for causing serious injuries to a truck driver, as reported by Metro.co.uk.
The incident took place in Antwerp, where the player grew up and started his football career. The victim suffered a severe head injury and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The Belgian court sentenced Chair to one year in prison with a 12-month deferment.
QPR club released a statement indicating that they are in contact with Chair's lawyers. It is expected that the midfielder will remain with the team and continue playing for QPR while he appeals the sentence.
