Alvaro Morata, the forward for Atletico Madrid and the Spanish national team, has revealed that he may end his career with the national team after Euro 2024.
He stated that he wants everything to end in the best possible way, as this could be his last tournament with the national team.
Morata told El Mundo:
It could be [my last tournament with Spain]. It's a possibility that I don't want to talk about too much, but it's probable. In Spain it's hard for me to be happy. Without doubt [I'm happier outside of Spain]. Above all, because people respect me. In Spain there's no respect for anything or anyone.
At Euro 2024, Morata scored one goal in five matches and received one yellow card. He has not scored in the last four games.
In total, Morata has scored 36 goals in 77 matches for the Spanish national team. In the 2022/23 season, he helped the team win the UEFA Nations League.
In the Euro 2024 semifinals, Spain will face France. The match will take place on June 9th at 22:00 GMT+3. The winner of this match will face the winner of the England vs. Netherlands match in the final.
