French striker Wissam Ben Yedder has been arrested over the weekend and will face court for allegations of "sexual assault in a state of inebriation," according to French newspaper L’Equipe.
The arrest followed a complaint filed by a woman born in 2001 regarding the alleged incident, which reportedly took place on Friday night in the footballer's car. A court session is scheduled for October 15.
The 34-year-old Ben Yedder scored 16 goals and provided three assists in Ligue 1 last season, contributing to AS Monaco's second-place finish behind Paris Saint-Germain.
During his five seasons with Monaco, Ben Yedder has netted 118 goals in 201 matches across all competitions, making him the club's second all-time leading scorer, surpassed only by Argentine Delio Onnis.
