Luka Modric, the leader of the Croatian national team and midfielder for Real Madrid, commented on the incident that took place during their Nations League quarterfinal match against France (0:2).
French forward Kylian Mbappe ended up falling on the grass in the Croatian penalty area after Modric took the ball from him, even though there was little to no physical contact between the players. The Croatian captain insisted on a penalty being called and criticized Mbappe for “diving”.
Luka Modric, quoted by L'Équipe
This is just a game moment, just joking with each other, nothing special.
The return match between these teams is scheduled for today, March 23. The match will take place in France at the Stade de France. English referee Michael Oliver will officiate the game, which is set to kick off at 22:45 GMT+3.
