Mexican Referee Asks Messi for His Jersey After Match

Inter Miami secured a 1-0 victory against Sporting Kansas City in the Round of 16 of the CONCACAF Champions League.

According to ESPN, after the final whistle, the match referee, Mexican Marco Antonio Ortiz Nava, asked Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi for his jersey. Messi agreed to the request but only after he reached the locker room due to the chilly temperature outside.

Messi scored the only goal of the game, marking his first official goal in 2025.

The 37-year-old Lionel Messi has been playing for Inter Miami since the summer of 2023. He has made a total of 40 appearances for the American club, scoring 35 times and providing 18 assists.
